just a little rant enjoy ;)

Society is messed up.

There is this pressure on girls to look perfect and “beautiful” all the time. But what is “beautiful”, it is a completely subjective word, that holds a different meaning for each person. But society and social media force the idea of beauty as long hair, flawless skin, curvy body - but not too curvy, long legs, makeup to accentuate, big boobs, tan skin, toned limbs, hairless legs, trendy clothes; the list is endless but also pointless. Why does it feel like we have to conform to these pressures and ideals? Why is there this anxiety that if we don’t live up to a certain appearance, we won’t have friends, a boyfriend, a successful life, we won’t be worthy. Teenagers already have the intense pressure of GCSE and A-Levels and choosing our future but then we also have this additional pressure that causes us/me just as much stress. It messes with my head. Life is about so much more than what we look like but yet it is something that takes up way too much of our thoughts and headspace. It drives me crazy but also pulls me in so I can’t escape this obsession. I should be worried about school and ballet and my friends not how I look and how I am perceived. The only word for it is ridiculous but here I am, trying to live up to these ridiculous expectations for no reason other than that’s what I have always known, thanks society!
